Shallow Analysis of Belt Repair Strips by Manufacturers: The Importance of Not Neglecting Repair Strips in Belt Maintenance

The repair strip plays a crucial role in belt maintenance by bonding with the belt, protecting damaged areas, restoring the belt's structure, and enhancing its strength. While belt care adhesive is essential, the function of the repair strip in belt repair should not be overlooked.

Many repair strips have a different colored rubber layer on the back, which is called a semi vulcanized layer. The semi vulcanized layer is an important part of the German cold vulcanized belt repair technology. The semi vulcanized layer is bonded with cold vulcanized glue and undergoes vulcanization reaction, integrating into one to achieve the same bonding strength as hot vulcanization and similar bonding effects. Domestic manufacturers are also constantly intensifying the research and development of semi vulcanized layers, but there is still a certain gap compared to Germany's already very mature cold vulcanization technology. There are also some who use ordinary rubber layers to change colors to deceive others, so be sure to pay attention when purchasing. 
Belt repair strip, the blue semi vulcanized layer of the repair strip can be directly observed to fuse with the cold vulcanized adhesive CV2000 after 1-2 hours of brushing and bonding. After a few hours, they completely fuse together as a whole, and the overall peel strength can exceed 20MPa, which is also the tear resistance strength of the rubber of the repair strip itself. At the same time, the RIT repair strip has good flexibility, a hardness of about 60 Shore A, moderate thickness, good passability of the roller surface, tear resistance, and is not prone to stress concentration. The wear resistance and aging resistance of the repair strip are also very excellent, reaching or even exceeding the performance of the rubber on the surface of the belt itself. The service life after repair can usually reach the same level as that of the belt.
Repair strips are divided into ordinary repair strips and reinforced repair strips according to different usage situations, corresponding to various width and thickness specifications. Ordinary repair strips are composed of wear-resistant rubber layers and semi vulcanized layers, while reinforced repair strips contain a 1.4mm thick fabric reinforcement layer inside the rubber layer. This fabric layer can greatly improve the structural strength of the repair strip, and have better repair effects on structural damages such as belt tearing and penetrating scratches. It can meet the needs of layered belts and steel ribbons of various strengths. Ordinary repair strips are mainly used for non structural damages such as rubber scratches, damages, and defects on the surface of belts. Repair strips can also be used for sealing of belt cold adhesive joints. 
Excellent quality repair strips can significantly extend the service life of the belt after repairing it, reduce economic losses, and ensure the stable and continuous operation of the belt conveyor system.
