After cold patching of the conveyor belt, there are generally two common issues. One is poor adhesion, which can lead to delamination after bonding. The other is the phenomenon of the repair patch being scraped off by the cleaner during operation. What should be done in such cases?
Poor adhesion and delamination are usually caused by inappropriate glue selection.Glue is the key material for bonding the repair patch to the conveyor belt, directly affecting the repair outcome.Next,we will discuss how to select the right cold patching adhesive?
The adhesive must have strong bonding strength to effectively ensure the strength after bonding and prevent delamination. The application scope should be extensive, ensuring that the adhesive does not deteriorate due to temperature changes.
The Cvul cold vulcanization repair adhesive CV2000 can be used for on-site operations. After curing, its bonding strength reaches 10,000 cps, with a shear force of 16N/mm,and a preheated vulcanization adhesive bonding grade. The bonding effect is naturally guaranteed.
Additionally, the adhesive is suitable for temperatures ranging between -40°C and 120°C,making it operable in various environments.Compared to ordinary adhesives,it offers a broader range of applications.
After repair, scratches are prone to occur.
This situation is generally caused by improper operation. This requires construction personnel to strictly follow the required procedures during on-site operations, with particular attention to the thickness of the conveyor belt grinding.
On-site Operation Procedures and Requirements for Conveyor Belt Cold Patching
Use an angle grinder with a tungsten carbide disc to grind the damaged area of the conveyor belt
Precautions:The grinding thickness should be slightly greater than the repair strip thickness to avoid potential scraping of the cleaner.
The grinding thickness must be ≥ the thickness of the repair patch
Apply a cleaning agent to the grinding area for surface cleaning, then coat it with two layers of cold patch adhesive
Apply cold patch adhesive to the bonding surface of the repair strip (If the bonding surface of the repair strip has a CN vulcanized layer, apply the cold patch adhesive once; if not, apply it twice)
Attach the repair patch to the damaged area, then roll back and forth with a compaction roller to expel excess air and ensure full contact between the repair patch and the conveyor belt.
