Belt bonding is a crucial step in the daily operation of belts.During belt operation, wear, scratches, and tears are inevitable due to material impacts and collisions. To prevent further damage from expanding cracks, timely belt bonding and repair are necessary.
The most crucial guarantee for belt bonding effectiveness undoubtedly lies in the selection of bonding materials. In particular, belt adhesive plays a decisive role in the bonding outcome. Whether the bonding materials can maximize their performance depends entirely on the on-site operations of the construction personnel. Operational details are extremely important.
The most commonly used bonding material currently on the market is a cold vulcanizing adhesive CV2000, typically paired with belt repair strips featuring a CN layer. Cold vulcanizing adhesive CV2000 delivers bonding strength equivalent to hot vulcanizing adhesives, enabling a vulcanization reaction with the CN layer of the repair strips, ensuring minimal cracking post-repair.
Taking the use of these two products as an example, a detailed bonding explanation is provided.
When repairing a belt, the first step is to sand the damaged area to increase the contact surface between the repair patch and the belt, enhancing the bonding performance. Sanding is typically performed using a high-power low-speed angle grinder equipped with a tungsten carbide disc, ensuring a uniform surface finish that resists aging.
To ensure the bonding effect of the adhesive, a cleaning agent is typically used to treat the surface after grinding. Once the cleaning agent dries, the cold vulcanization adhesive is applied.
After the cold vulcanization adhesive has dried, apply another coat to ensure its wettability, then brush the cold vulcanization adhesive onto the repaired bonding surface.
When the glue on the damaged area becomes slightly tacky to the back of the hand—that is, when it's neither fully dry nor wet (requiring the worker to touch it with the back of the hand to determine the optimal bonding time)—apply the repair strip to the damaged area and use a compaction roller to roll back and forth, expelling excess air.
