A complete guide to choosing roller coated rubber sheets for ports: these points must be understood
The quality of the roller coating is basically determined by the glue and adhesive board, and the more harsh the external environment, the more high-quality adhesive board is needed to protect the roller, and the higher the quality requirements for the adhesive board.
The conveyor system used in ports is mostly made of steel belts, and the overall length of the conveyor can reach over a kilometer, with a large load and long distance. It has very high requirements for the rubber plates used for drum wrapping, especially for the driving drum wrapping. Here are a few essential points to understand, providing you with a comprehensive guide for purchasing roller coated rubber sheets in ports.
Port environment
Outdoor sunlight and high temperature exposure make it susceptible to corrosion from seawater. Rubber sheets are prone to aging in this environment, especially recycled rubber sheets with high sulfur content. During use, they will quickly age and become hard, lose flexibility, and lose the value of encapsulation. The rubber sheets used in ports must have sufficient acid and alkali resistance, as well as aging resistance, to ensure that the rubber sheets can maintain good performance throughout use.
Wear resistance and friction force
The rubber wrapped drum is designed to protect the drum from corrosion and wear, while utilizing the high friction coefficient of rubber to increase the friction between the drum and the belt. The wear resistance coefficient of the rubber plate determines how long the drum can be used for coating, and the friction coefficient determines the power transmission efficiency. The wear resistance and friction coefficient of the rubber plate depend on its own material and the manufacturing process of the rubber plate.
Adhesive bonding force
Rubber plate wrapped roller is a process of cold bonding the rubber plate onto the roller with glue. The higher the bonding strength, the more reliable it is, and correspondingly, it can withstand higher strength conveying work. The cold glue, adhesive board, and external environment used can all affect the adhesive strength of the package.
Cold vulcanization drum encapsulation is the mainstream encapsulation method in drum cold encapsulation. It uses cold vulcanization adhesive CV2000, rubber sheet with semi vulcanized layer, cleaning agent, metal treatment agent, etc., to achieve the same bonding strength as hot vulcanization after encapsulation at the speed of cold bonding.
If the quality of the rubber sheet used is not up to standard, even the best glue is useless. Recycled rubber sheets have many impurities, poor adhesion, high sulfur content, and are prone to aging. If the adhesion is reduced again, various additives will precipitate in the rubber after bonding, contaminating the bonding surface and even directly causing the glue to fail and the rubber sheet to fall off. Due to the insufficient quality of the adhesive used, there are also many cases where the adhesive falls off within a few days after being coated.
Other properties of rubber sheet
The good flexibility of the rubber plate can prevent adhesion of materials during operation through its own stretching and squeezing, ensuring its own cleanliness and reducing friction.
The adhesive board with a diamond shaped or herringbone surface has greater friction and can effectively drain water and mud, making it more effective than flat adhesive boards in conveying damp and sticky materials.
It is recommended to use ceramic rubber sheets for roller wrapping in port conveyor systems with high tension, large load capacity, mud, and high wear materials. Ceramic rubber sheets have the highest wear resistance and friction force currently available, and of course, the highest price.
The process of making roller wrap adhesive
Polish the drum with tungsten steel grinding disc and angle grinder to remove residual glue and rust; Clean the drum 1-2 times with a cleaning agent to remove dust, oil, and grease that adhere after polishing, and improve the bonding performance; After the cleaning agent is dried, apply a layer of metal treatment agent evenly. The metal treatment agent can effectively improve the adhesion between the cold vulcanized adhesive and the metal surface of the drum, which is an important guarantee to ensure that the drum does not come off during operation after being coated; After the metal treatment agent is thoroughly dried, apply two layers of cold vulcanized adhesive evenly. After the first layer is dry, apply the second layer. At the same time, apply a layer of cold vulcanized adhesive on the semi vulcanized layer of RIT rubber sheet. When the adhesive on both sides is semi dry and does not adhere to the back of the fingers, it should be bonded and adhered together; After the bonding is completed, use a compaction roller to roll back and forth to remove internal bubbles, and then use a rubber hammer to compact it; Fill the gap between the rubber plate interface with rubber repair agent.
The semi vulcanized layer of the rubber sheet can quickly undergo a vulcanization reaction with the cold vulcanized adhesive, and after a few hours, it can be directly observed that they merge into one. The initial adhesion of the cold vulcanized adhesive is very strong, and sufficient adhesion can be obtained immediately after bonding, without the need for prolonged pressure.
